RIM BlackBerry Storm: Possible iPhone Challenger?

ddzpnv62_96gjs26zdv_b

RIM’s BlackBerry Storm 9500 could possibly be the first credible touchscreen device to challenge Apple’s iPhone. Although BlackBerry Storm 9500 may in no way resemble an iPhone, RIM’s device has enough neat functions to steal demand from the iPhone.
The BlackBerry Storm 9500 is RIM’s first venture into the world of touchscreen phones. Interestingly, for its first model, RIM has decided to come up with a fully clickable touchscreen called the “ClickThrough” touchscreen. The phone’s 3.25-inch screen can be pressed downward like one very big button. Pressing the screen down is prompted by the menu in order to activate certain functions.
Storm attempts to be very flexible in terms of user typing preferences. Three keypad types are available and easily switched from one to the other. When the device is held in the portrait mode, RIM’s signature SureType keypad comes out but it can also be changed to the more classic Multitap input if you prefer. When the device is held in the landscape mode, a QWERTY keypad, powered by an accelerometer, is launched.
Storm’s keypad has its advantages and disadvantages. The keypad is quite large which means easier typing but also translates to limited view of what you’re typing. Like most touchscreen keypads, Storm’s keypad may take a while to get accustomed. The keypad’s responsiveness and accelerometer is also known to be sluggish, too. Thankfully, Copy and Paste works—a function which doesn’t exist in the iPhone.
Communication is a strong point for the Storm as expected from RIM products. Email can be accessed and managed efficiently. Viewing, editing and attaching documents are smoothly done with DataViz. Calendar and address books can also be synced seamlessly with a PC. Instant messaging and social networking apps are integrated into the Storm’s backbone. Most tasks can be done with a single click.
Blackberry Storm 9500 has a workable camera and a simple but impressive music player. Movie-watching is also possible since the phone’s got 1G of onboard memory plus up to 16GB of expandable memory. Storm is equipped with HSDPA, USB and BlueTooth Stereo but sadly, lacks WiFi capability. Reportedly, Storm also has compatibility issues with Macs. Obviously, RIM’s made it personal with Apple.
BlackBerry Storm 9500 is available at Amazon.com for $488.97.

Unlike other high-end business phones and entertainment phones, Palm Pre promises to integrate business features with entertainment features without compromising on quality. The need for having separate phones for work and for personal use ends with Palm Pre. The phone combines your professional, social and personal information into one machine that will revolutionize the way we use wireless network.
Palm Pre runs on a very reliable 3G network and readily comes packaged with Sprint’s “Everything Data” plan. The phone is designed to optimize Everything Data’s features. Palm Pre is built to stand heavy duty multi-tasking. Because of Palm Pre’s PDA heritage, managing digital information, whether corporate or personal, is also an ease.
The Synergy function in the new Palm webOS enables you to merge your calendar, address book details and other information from multiple sites in one go. Therefore, the transition from business life to personal life is greatly reduced. You can pull out information from your corporate site and your social networking site in a systemized manner. We all have our share of getting the latest gadget that the market has to offer. We usually save a certain amount to purchase the gadget we want. If you are into mobile phones, you would want some accessories to go with it.

The latest in the market is the BlueAnt Q1 Voice Controlled Bluetooth headset. It was first launched at CTIA Wireless 2009. Although it is not yet available to the public, it is nice to know that it has arrived already. This will be the most advanced Bluetooth headset. Some of the unique features of this BlueAnt Q1 includes a voice control system where the user can enjoy hands-free experience through the use of “Simply Connect” voice control technology. So, no need to go for reading up on a thick user manual before you get started. All you need to do is hook up the headset in their ear, listen to the verbal cues and instructions to get the pairing and set up procedures. There, you are done in a jiffy!

Another gadget that is out in the market is the Palm Foleo. It is one of the best rumor that is running around the net right now. The buzz was showing vast interest from mobile obsessed, and now it will be soon available to you. The Palm Pre is about to be released with its brand new OS. So, Foleo is not far from being out. Who knows right?

Now, going for another gadget, convergence devices are considered to be cool in their own right because it allows you to do more with just single device. The Trispecs is one of such device. There are three buttons located along the arms of the shades that allow you to control your MP3 player as well as phone functions. This will make them look slightly more bulky than usual although that ought to be fine since many fashion sunglasses do feature outrageously huge arms from time to time. This also features noise cancellation technology courtesy of the boffins at Step Labs. This is available in black, white, red, blue, gold, and silver colors. So, you have so many options to choose from.

So, save that money and choose the best gadget for you.

New Technology in Town

Technology is almost the same as gadget. When we say gadget, we would have the idea of the new technology that is offered in the market. And for most of us, we always go for mobile phones. This is the kind of technology we always make ourselves updated. We want to have the latest. We want to show it to our friends and to our co-workers.

When Apple was out in the market, a lot of us wanted to avail of it. We saved some money to spend for the latest mobile phone. But in the recent study, the iPhone 3G fell to second-place behind the BlackBerry Curve. The RIM, which is the maker of BlackBerry was responsible for three of the top five consumer smartphones in the list. The BlackBerry Storm was third and the Pearl fell on the fourth.

Yes, I know, Apple’s iPhone 3g has been the top-selling consumer smartphone in the Us for the both the third and fourth quarters of 2008 and before, the Curve had been second and Palm’s Centro third. But news have been spreading that BlackBerry Curve, now, outsells it.

Then, NPD credited a “buy-one-get-one” promotion by Verizon Wireless for helping to push the Curve past the iPhone. The Curve benefited from these giveaways and was able to outsell the iPhone. Why? Because of its broader availability on the four major US national carriers.

That’s right, what is number one selling now, may be second in rank tomorrow. Technology, after all, is always changing.
