Albeit all of us wanted to start our very own graphic design business, but not all of us can become great designers. But for aspiring designers there is room to change and develop on becoming a great graphic designer.
To be a good graphic designer it takes practice and discipline in the field. You need practice to hone those skills and practice your talents. A graphic designer must be able to cope up with extreme deadlines; they have to work with a tight schedule. The talented designer must be resourceful in every thing that he does. He must be creative enough to develop new ideas or innovate the current existing ones. Creativity is the key here and being able to create things with a pen and paper is a godsend.
When it comes to graphic design the designer must be well aware what the client wants from him. The graphic designer must be able to use the materials he has and makes use of them within a tight budget. He must make it sure that he must be able to meet the demand of his client to further fasten a good working relationship.

In graphic design there are many software to choose from. Basically the most popular and common with the masses would be Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw and Maya 3D just to name a few. The popularity of these software’s have given designers the ease and comfort in designing. This software’s are likely to be used in creating calling cards, letterheads and company logos. A good practice would be that you familiarize at least one of the software’s mentioned above.

Graphic designers are very much in demand in many advertising firm, the pay is rather above average and getting you into one project would likely be you best chance to sharpen your skills and talents.

Graphic Design artists are said to have great job opportunities until the year 2014. However, it does not mean that the business is not as cut throat as some would like to think. Creativity and innovation is the essence of this industry so be ready to face tough competition if you decide to venture into this line of work. To be a graphic design artist, one must have an artistic ability to see what works and what does not in a creation. Usually this is an innate characteristic but can also be developed by going to a graphic design school or taking a training course. This would actually be helpful since a diploma can make you look more appropriate for the job. Aside from that, patience is also one virtue necessary because count on spending hours and hours coming up with fresh ideas that can give a new twist to an old subject. Basically, a graphic artist does his best to incorporate a message through the creative visual he has been assigned to by a client. They can be in the form of print, electronic and film media. They also do the brain storming for strategies to get a message across with the limited medium, lay outing and production. A couple of stuff that a graphic designer needs to be familiar with are different publishing programs (such as adobe photo shop, Frame maker, pagemaker), copy right laws and especially how to communicate. Communication is the key, with your client and your target audience. There has to be no barrier in between because that will eventually lead to limiting the output. With time and experience, all this can be learned. Just hold on tight and if you really are passionate about designing graphics for a living, it will surely love you back.

Since graphic design is a field where your creativity and knowledge with technology is constantly exercised, being open to the broad spectrum of its possibilities is a must. So here, I will enumerate on one of the most common types of graphic design and it is called the image – based design. This type refers to when designers use only photographs as their main medium. Since it is referred to as image based, there are little to no words at all seen in this type.

They use it to convey whatever message they were assigned to do. As I said, it is one of the most common types of graphic design because image is a very powerful and compelling tool. That is how powerful a tool image is in the industry. So, how can you be sure that the image – based design you are working on is good? Well, contrary to popular belief not only information is given by this type of design. Aside from the trivial things, emotion and mood must also come through. Why is that anyway? Because, people (or whoever your target audience is) will be more able to relate when the picture in front of them is expressing human emotions familiar to them. Not only will it look more authentic and real but it will also certainly tug on the consumer’s heartstrings that will create a certain niche in the said market. Yes, it will take time to master this kind of graphic design but with patience and perseverance, you should get the hang of expressing a thought with just one mesmerizing picture.
