S2 Game’s Heroes of Newerth
Heroes of Newerth, or simply called as HON, is a new stand alone game based on the same principles of the popular Warcraft 3 mode DotA (Defense of the Ancients). Currently, Heroes of Newerth is still in its early beta phase, and is developed by S2 Games. Indie developer S2 Games has come up a sneaky approach in advertising their game through Facebook and Twitter.
Heroes of Newerth still is a significant copycat of the game DotA. Playing the game feels like your actually playing DotA. The mechanics are the same and most especially the map is very much the same as that of the original. Most people will first describe it as “DotA, with much improve graphics”. Veterans of the game DotA will be very comfortable to adapt this new game.
Having played it for a couple of few games I found out that the amount of detail the developers put into the game. Considering the fact how crisp the images were and not to mention the details they put when a hero actually attacks another opponent.
As for the game play, it feels the same as DotA. You pick your heroes from the tavern and purchase items to make you heroes stronger. Speaking of choosing your heroes, the heroes in Newerth are much that of DotA. The only difference is that the name of the hero has been altered and also their skills but surprisingly though when you take a closer inspection the models are the same except with a few tweaks in graphics and visuals.
The game is readily downloadable in numerous websites, but there’s a catch. To actually play the game you have to acquire a beta key for you to play it. Getting the beta keys can be quite a challenge since it’s a first come first serve basis. Beta keys are available through Alienware’s site or through HoN’s player – invite system.
