Windows Mobile Phone for Timely Weather Displays

abc

Do you live in an area where the weather is so unpredictable? You wake up, see the sunny sky and wear your summer outfit just to be surprised later that it’s starting to rain. Or vice versa, you wear your favorite jacket and an over-all protection from the rain, and just when you are on your way to work, the sun comes out and leaves you with nothing but sweat. It is very annoying and frustrating, isn’t it?

Designer Seunghan Song thought a cool and portable solution to this, the Window Mobile Phone.
Window Mobile Phone is a concept of a mobile gadget that double functions as a mobile handset and as a gadget that displays the weather outside. Designed as a thin and transparent plastic sheet, the handset displays the weather outside like some sort of a window. If the day outside is sunny, a clear and transparent screen is displayed. During rainy days, the screen shows sign of humidity as it gets covered with droplets of water. For snowy days, a foggy screen is reflected.

The handset features a touchscreen interface and it supports handwriting recognition. The user can simply write text messages on the screen and even draw pictures on the phone in different weather conditions. When the interface is blown, the words and images written or drawn are transformed into SMS characters. This is via the sensitive interaction with the user.

With this, there will be no need for daily updates on the weather. Turning the tv on just to see the daily weather forecast, which are often misleading anyway, won’t be necessary. Just look at the Window Phone and it’s settled. But since it’s yet to be an actual product on the market, we will have to wait and see until it gets into reality. For now, we just have to settle with figuring the weather out on our own.

Photo Restoring and Crease Removal by HP

22222

Are you frustrated over the creases on your printed photos? This happens to a lot of people – the treasured souvenir of precious moments marked and lined with damages due primarily by carelessness and improper handling of photos.

Some may say it does not matter much as it is only a crease, or a simple fold that is barely visible. However, even the minutest sign of crease greatly affects the quality of what could have been a perfect souvenir shot; experts in the field of art and photography will tell you that.

To address this photo-crease crisis, HP presents a technique that promises to remove the accursed crease from photo prints. As the initial statement released by HP, no special equipment is necessary except for an ordinary flatbed scanner.

In most scanners, two separate lights are used to artificially capture the color of a photograph. When these lights move independently from each other, two separate images can be captured. Using the software which is currently on the works, an infilling process can be done which will remove pixels inside the scanned crease. These pixels will then be replaced by pixels outside the crease. As a result, a spotless JPEG scan from a creased photo is obtained. No modified hardware and no technical know-how required, HP guarantees.

Using the right tools, you can easily restore your old and damaged photos. Apart from creases and folds, other flaws on the photo such as brightness, contrast, saturation, correct color, remove marks and scratches can also be tended to and automatically edited. Talk about awesome digital art processing.

So, if your digital pictures can be polished and perfected using Photoshop, your printed photos also have their chance of being brought back to quality. All it needs is a little understanding of the printing process, proper handling, and storage of printed materials to be able to keep your photos last a lifetime.

Between Traditional and Digital Art

As digital technology continues to evolve in a constantly-hastening pace, the world of art is becoming more complicated. The differences may be seen between traditional and digital visual arts, causing conflict and confusion amongst the ranks. Traditionalists may see digital art as a gateway to mediocrity and ignorance of the fundamentals of visual art, while digital artists may see traditional art as outdated and closed to the changes in both technology and the current perspective on art.
This sort of disarray amongst artists who merely have different philosophies, but still have the common aim of creating artworks with purpose and meaning, serves only to make things hard for the world of art to get to a wider audience. While it is argued that in digital art, it is not the artist but the computer that does the work, and the resulting artwork can be reproduced over and over again. These people claim that it takes no skill at all and that there is no such thing as an original digital artwork. However, as digital artists know, this is far from the truth.

Digital art is best when it embraces the traditional fundamentals of art. With the convenience brought on by new technologies, digital art is about exploring new horizons and developing new techniques to express one’s creativity in more ways. Limitations are being lifted due to these new technologies just as how photography and cinema gave artists new media to create with when both the photo and video cameras were invented.
There really is no need for a debate regarding the differences between traditional and digital art because these two schools of thought in art are really made of the same thing. Nowadays, a good multimedia artist is someone with a solid background on the fundamentals in traditional art and experienced in the technical aspects of digital art. Adaptability and versatility does digital art great justice indeed.

Securing Data with USB Drive Locks

2

It may not be much, but there is a certain limit to one’s confidence about security. With USB flash drives being the most popular portable storage medium nowadays due to their portability, decent capacity, affordability, and robustness, it won’t be long until you have a pile of them in your drawer. If you lose one, you might as well pray that you did not have anything too important or sensitive in it. Of course, being compromised is not limited to that.

Imagine someone else either gets curious about what you put in your USB flash drive or just needs one in a hurry, then he/she opens up something inside to find something that you may find embarassing or worse. That’s not a very good scenario to think about, but such blunders do tend to happen. If this happens to you a lot, then this may be the answer to your problems — USB Drive Locks.

A simple combination lock that you can fit your USB drives in, this small piece of security can keep people from getting to your sensitive data, as long as you are the only one who knows the combination. Perhaps if you really want it to be as secure as Fort Knox, you can encrypt the data, put a password on it, make the files and folders hidden, slap on the USB drive lock, throw it into a lock box, then put it in a safe. Okay, perhaps that is just exaggerating things.

What makes sense here is that these could be inexpensive and very useful for keeping your USB flash drives secure. If you are really concerned about the security of your files, then this is a great way to boost it.

The Intricacies of Graphic Design

14

Graphic design is a general term encompassing the various disciplines focusing on the visual aspects of communication and presentation, whether it is to relay a message or merely to please the senses. Throughout history, different methods in various media have been used to graphically present different things to audiences, thus recording the culture, trends, and sensibilities of the people during that certain period of time. Graphic design evolves through the progression of technology and the changing of people’s mindsets and perceptions about the world around them.

It is not merely static with set rules and principles, but a dynamic artform that is all about reaching towards an audience and their subjective experience through their sense of sight and ability to interpret and comprehend representations of objects, symbols, and figures. The different techniques involved in depicting these representations may be combined or separate, depending on the purpose of the finished product and the designer who created it. Such images are created from concepts and ideas that may yield many results, depending on how the designer interprets them and translates them into a physical representation through their intended medium.

The different aspects of graphic design, including imaging, typography, layout, interface, publishing, and many others pertaining to the process of creating a finished product have always been going through constant change and evolution with the progression of technology and understanding of how the human mind works regarding things that they see. The images that are seen, the words that are read, the symbols that are interpreted, and the way they are arranged all need to be created through a methodical creative process to maximize space, resources, and imagination.

All of this may lead one to scramble with multiple abstract and metaphysical concepts that may kill most people’s brain cells, but one thing must be understood by all graphic artists. To become a good graphic designer, one must attain five things – technical proficiency, innate creativity, willingness to experiment, understanding of his audience’s perspective, and a deep passion for his craft. All of these things must be attained to be a true graphic designer.
