Car makers surprisingly just do not focus on making motor vehicles anymore. Some of them even have come up with ideas that center around science fiction, specifically on robots. Aside from Honda, Toyota is one car company that did just this. They have recently released a humanoid robot proto type that does the simple things we humans take for granted in our daily lives, i.e. like running. I should also mention that Toyota already has a history of creating robot proto types, such as years ago with one that could play the violin. This one however stands at 130 cm tall, this white human like machinery weighs at 50 kg. Its legs are said to possess seven degrees of freedom that allows it to outrun its rival, the Honda Asimo robot ( by 1 mile per hour ) that only has a maximum speed of 6 km per hour. The Honda Asimo by the way could also walk as mentioned and also go up the stairs. Toyota researchers and developers achieved this feat by investing in an emergent study that delves into real – time balance methods for ultimate balance control. This method makes it possible for the Toyota Humanoid robot to remain balanced even when there is an external force that gets applied to it, like when it gets pushed. Now it would seem that other robots that just stay stationary are completely pathetic if compared to this. And although pretty much impressive, this humanoid is still limited to balancing on really flat surfaces. But as the proto type, for sure come one day it will be brand spanking new standing tall whichever surface it is on. And albeit there is still a long way to go, it looks like Toyota has made it one step closer, compared to Honda.
