iPhone 3G and iPod touch Apps for Graphic Designers
A lot of people are taken with Apple’s iPhone 3G and iPod touch. Technological advancement and commercial appeal are two of the main reasons for this. However, for creative graphic designers, the various iPhone-based applications are the real catch.
Without any doubt, there are lots and lots of applications intended for iPhone 3G and iPod touch. Many are already in store and and more are still coming up. Among these apps, a number of helpful tools are available for graphic designers. Some of them are simply organizational tools, some are apps which can inspire or motivate creative thinking, while others just easily capture the user’s imagination.

Oblique Strategies, Ruler, Palettes, Things, Color Expert, PhotoWizard, and Caliper, these are just few of the iPhone 3G and iPod touch apps which you would surely find useful.
Oblique Strategies is an application that contains a set of postcards published by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt in their 1979 edition. These are set of inspiring and philosophical quotes which promote creativity. You would find these app extremely helpful during a creative block or when you’re having a tough time with a creative idea. There are a total of 5 editions in the app and it can be used on both iPhone 3G and iPod touch.

In graphic designing, just like any other kind of designing, measurement is always needed. This makes a ruler an important tool. Both iPhone 3G and iPod touch has ruler apps which works in centimeters and inches. Caliper is another measuring tool that has made its way to being an iPhone and iPod app. Just like an actual caliper, it uses its upper and lower caliper jaws to take measurement which can be attained in pixels, or centimeters and inches.

Palette is the app you need when creating a color scheme. With this particular app, you can get sample colors from websites, from your iPhone photo album images and other color schemes present in your phone. It lets you import and export color palettes to and from Adobe Photoshop and it supports different color modes such as RGB, HSV, HSL and CMYK.

Another color-based app is the Color Expert. This application provides a swatch library and an interactive color wheel for an easier selection and identification of colors. It has web-safe and HTML colors and different Pantone swatches. You can also add custom colors and email Adobe Swatch Exchange files with the Color Expert app.

Things is an app that serves as a productivity application or a task manager as it lets the user to make a to do list and allows prioritization of the task entries. It can be very helpful for those who are working as freelance designers or those who have multiple projects.

PhotoWizard is a photograph processing app which is able to add special effects and enhance iPhone camera photos. Though it may not be as incredible as Photoshop, it has its uses.
