WPC-500F, a Waterproof Fanless Computer from Stealth
Stealth, a leading manufacturer of rugged and specialized computers and peripherals which has been serving government and military based clients as well as scientific, industrial and commercial markets for years now has released a new interesting computer model. Stealth’s latest is WPC-500F, a computer model which can stand and perform in harsh environments like no ordinary computer hardware can handle.
WPC-500F is a waterproof, small-footprint fanless computer that can withstand liquids, chemicals, dust and all dirt intrusions. It is a watertight PC, completely sealed on all six sides, that meets the IP67/NEMA 6 environmental specifications.You may be wondering how the internal CPU is cooled without cooling fans, Stealth worked it out by using an advanced heat pipe technology. The computer’s aluminum chassis serves as a heat sink where internal heat is dissipated without giving out any kind of noise.
Power, video, serial and USB connections are featured with watertight, locking bayonet style connectors just like those of military designed hardware. WPC-500F also uses special high performance hard drives that are able to put up with conditions such as extreme temperatures, high humidity, high vibration and high altitudes. An optional Solid State Hard Drive is available for applications that require higher shock and vibration resistance.
Intel’s latest Atom processor technology is used in the system. Despite its small package, measuring only 7.51 x 11.37 x 2.97 inches, maximum performance and efficiency is ensured. The system is compatible with Microsoft Vista/XP and Linux and can be configured to meet the exact needs of the end user. To allow easy mounting of the PC on control panels, walls and consoles, a special mounting bracket is included.
WPC-500F is already available for orders and Stealth will be delivering them this July 2009. This certain computer model is ideal for industrial, commercial, scientific research, military, marine, public safety, utility, transportation, mining and telecommunication applications. Its basic configuration is priced at $1,995.00.
