Graphic Artists Are…
Do you like to dabble with photo shop and think its hell of easy to use? When you see flyers posted on walls, do you think you can do better by adding an extra design here, and taking out an element there? Well if you’re like that you maybe a graphic designer in the making. Graphic design primarily focuses on digital art. Symbols, images and words are usually put together to create an idea and message for a specific purpose. Primarily used for printed and electronic media, the main job of graphic artists are to portray information that will be accessible yet still aesthetically pleasing. Personally, when someone says graphic design, the most iconic one I can think of that I know most people can relate to is the ipod people. Whoever that graphic artist is, he nailed the job. See, to be a graphic artist, you must be in tune with the market you are designing for. You must know how to research and come through your audience all the while maintaining the essence of the product you are advertising. If you are still a budding graphic artist, I suggest you start familiarizing yourself with computer softwares like adobe creative suite to get a head start. If you are more internet savvy, you can learn basic html and other programming language so you can focus on web page design. There’s also a third choice which deals more with the printing aspect of graphic design. It’s called print design and it is more centered on understanding the processes involved in printing and reproducing of press-ready art work. With whatever you choose among the 3, remember to keep a copy of your work (hardcopy or digital). Even though you are still an amateur, it’s important to keep track and build up your portfolio. You might be surprised that what you’ve amateurishly designed may turn out to be as famous as the iconic ipod silhouette people right?
