Top iPhone Games Worth Buying

Any iPod Touch or iPhone user who browses through iTunes store faces the problem of finding quality downloads in the enlarging file database that iTunes is amassing. For game downloading, it can get all the more frustrating. Tons of free games, even some with high ratings, are so clearly unprofessional that it’s not even worth a try while games with well-known titles simply just have well-known titles. Through all that pile of junk, however, we’ve managed to find a few gems:

Wolfenstein 3D Classic. Pegged at $2, Wolfenstein is not only one of the cheapest but perhaps the best iPhone game launched so far. This iPhone game is based on the immensely popular original Wolfenstein 3D game and was in fact developed also by its original creator, John Carmack. All 60 levels of the game are plotted exactly like those in the original game. The controls are smooth and functional too.

MGS Touch. Touch is more or less a shooting arcade in a Metal Gear Solid 4 environment with Metal Gear Solid 4 characters. The graphics are stunning and the gunplay is amazingly fluid. Sadly, the stealth ability doesn’t exist though but the 50 wallpapers you can unlock are consolation enough.

Myst. Although the PC version didn’t gain much success, Myst seems perfect for iPhone gaming. What seemed too old for the PC seems fresh for the iPhone. Pointing and clicking never felt better.

3

Assasin’s Creed. Okay, the graphics aren’t great but the game makes up for it with fun interactive game play and a surprisingly interesting storyline. Assasin’s Creed is the Prince of Persia for the iPhone. Assasin’s Creed entertains at a cost much cheaper than that of the DS version.

Spore Origins. Compromises were made to transfer this out-of-this-world PC game to the iPhone. The game has been greatly reduced limiting you to one single cell creature in one petri dish. The game still remains highly addictive especially with the iPhone’s tilt ability. A fun features allows Spores to be patterned after iPhone photos. For a mobile adaptation, Spore Origins is amazing.
