Top Facebook No-nos

Social networks have inevitably become part of our life. Facebook, with more than a 100 million users, has become a society in itself. Like in any society, there are certain rules to follow and etiquette to observe. Break rules and violating Facebook etiquette should be avoided at all cost because you’ve probably had first-hand experience of how irritating it can be. Here’s a list of top Facebook no-nos (things you should never ever do on Facebook):
Using Facebook mail to send messages instead of regular e-mail. Sending mail through Facebook is pretty silly because Facebook mail notices appear in your e-mail. The receiver would have to check his e-mail first then proceed to Facebook just to receive your message. You should message using your e-mail to simplify matters.
Adding old friends and never communicating to them after. Facebook has been a great avenue for friends who haven’t seen each other in decades to reconnect. You spot someone from your past in Facebook, you add them, they accept and you never even communicate. It’s slighting.
Adding ‘familiar’ people. It’s improper to add people solely based on the fact that their names are recognizable or familiar. Friends who you’ve shared a holiday with also count in this list. Exchanging contact details with people you’ve gotten to know over a conference, retreat or vacation is simply a formality that shouldn’t be taken action on. On the other side of things, you also shouldn’t accept invitations from people you know as this could invite unneeded irritation in your life.
Writing stuff on walls that should have been communicated privately. Although vanity may be a driving force behind Facebook, you shouldn’t go overboard to the point of insult. Inviting people to private parties, or talking negatively about work or other people should never be done in Facebook walls or status messages. It might seem tempting to show-off but generally, people will dislike you for it.
Joining bizarre groups. The freedom to believe something always exists but when people want to join groups that tell you to do silly things like buying carrots on this date…it borderlines on stupidity. The only more stupid thing you can do is starting such a group.
