Looking around at our surroundings, we can see a lot of wonderful graphic designs such as flyers, advertisements, or billboard. These designs are fantastic and really amazing, due to the artist’s great attention even to the littlest details. A good graphic design has many factors affecting its outcome. Money and skill could be some of those, but really you don’t have to be an expert in order to produce an expert result. Here are some tips to guide you when you are on your way to designing your own design.

1.) Font Selection
Don’t use too much font styles, two types per document is enough. Choose fonts which are clean and simple so that it will be readable. You can use a little creativity with the headline and use emphasis on certain words or phrases. Also see to it that the types of font you are choosing matches the overall theme or personality of the product you are trying to represent.

2.) Effective Use of White Space
Be careful with spaces. A good design does is a design which has a good balance of its area and white spaces. You actually do not have to fill up all of the area in your design. White areas can help give the eye a break and a time to see some highlighted points in the design.

3.) Use Photos and Graphics which are Effective
Always bear in mind that too much graphics will make your design look too crowded. You just have to choose an effective graphic that will surely bring out the point of your design. Check on the sizes of the photos and graphics and its quality. You have to see to it that your reader will see the message you are trying to portray that’s why selection of graphics and photos to be used should be done properly. And remember to always create harmony with your photos so as to avoid conflicting ideas which may lead to confusion.

4.) Make it Neat and Short
Keep your sentences and paragraphs short enough for readers to like it. Shorter articles are readable than those heavy and bulky ones. Avoid the use of difficult words, instead use words which can be easily understood by all kinds of people. Before you have your design out, ask someone to proofread it.

5.) Watch the Flow of the Design
Watch the flow of your ideas. See to it that there is harmony between all the ideas being presented. It is also a good practice to include something like a “call to action” at the bottom of your ad. A good example would be a contact number placed at the bottom. This will check if you had been successful with your design in conveying the message you want your readers to see.
