In the recently held CES 2009, Dell announced the latest addition to their Inspiron Mini family, the Dell Inspiron Mini 10. It is a little laptop measuring 18.25 x 26.1 x 2.8 cm and weighs about 1.3 kg. Although it is smaller than its predecessor, the Inspiron Mini 10 is packed with more features. With its 1024 x 576 resolution screen, it can give its user a nice experience when watching videos.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is said to be the most powerful of Dell’s Netbook. This new laptop is equipped with new features, some of which are :
? A 16:9 HD 720p resolution screen with a built-in TV tuner, GPS and a mobile broadband
? Wi-Fi 802, an Intel Atom processor, 1 GB of RAM and a touchpad
? Bluetooth, built-in webcam, three USB ports and a memory card reader
? 3-cell and 6-cell battery options
? 10-inch screen (1280×720) resolution

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 also comes in a variety of colors, so you can choose which design will suit your taste. It is enclosed with a glossy lid available in either black or white. It has an edge to edge keyboard with its shift keys on both the left and right size in decent sizes and a row full of function keys on the top. It also is equipped with a track pad with the entire pad made of buttons and is multi-touch capable, enabling it to support new gestures. Dell did not give much information about this new product, but rumors circulating are saying that it will have Windows XP or Windows Vista on it.

There is still no date of release yet, but this little laptop will surely be a hit to most people. With its exciting new features, the buyers surely won’t mind the expensive price tag it comes with.

This year, the world of video games will never be the same again for the most anticipated game of 2009 is about to be released. The upcoming release of Resident Evil 5 is making much noise

This forthcoming installment of the one of the most loved survival horror video games is about to be born. Resident Evil 5 is packed with new exciting features that all gamers will surely love. Here are a few features of the upcoming Resident Evil 5 :
*  Chris Redfield, the protagonist of the first Resident Evil and Resident Evil : Code Veronica is back, and he has with him a new character named Sheva Alomar, an agent from Africa.
* Players will no longer be alone in their fight because it has a 2 player co-op inline game play
* New enemies for new and better challenges with an arsenal of weapons to help keep the enemies

Resident Evil 5 is just like its predecessor, with the player controlling Chris Redfield. This new installment of Resident Evil offers a different game experience. It is packed with a brand new set of enemies which possess human like intelligence and awareness. Adding to its new features are new weapons which will be a lot different from the previous game series. Another exciting feature of this game is its online mode. This is much like an online game which can be played by two people on different screens.

Its producers stated that this new series is an actual sequel of the original Resident Evil. It offers the same feel to the film entitled Black Hawk Dawn. Many are already anticipating the coming of Resident Evil 5. Overall, this new series will surely be a major hit in 2009. Resident Evil 5 will be officially released on March 2009 and will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360 players.

Krown Manufacturing’s handy Sign Language Translator

Another device shown at this year’s CES is the Sign Language Translator from Krown Manufacturing. Krown Manufacturing Company is a deaf owned manufacturer that is dedicated to improving the quality of life of deaf people and those who have hearing difficulties by making telecommunication equipment for individuals, professionals and businesses to be used in homes, workplace and all public facilities.

The Sign Language Translator is just like usual language translators we already know. It has a 320 by 240 pixel touchscreen display that is accompanied with a software based keyboard. The only difference is that this gizmo translates text into sign language, as its name implies. Using the translator is really simple and straightforward. Just key in a word using the stylus pen included in the device. After that, press the “enter” button and a video of a person demonstrating the sign for that word will be shown in the screen. More than 3,500 English words can be translated by the device.
However, it can only help users with translating single words only and not completing a sentence. That seems to be the major setback of the device. Users need to at least have background knowledge on the American Sign Language to efficiently make use of it. But despite that, Sign Language Translator proves to be a very functional device especially for those who know and actually have deaf friends. This is also a step toward teaching those who are interested in learning the sign language. Students who are just starting to learn can use the translator as a reference material.

 

The Sign Language Translator is rechargeable via USB and can work up to six hours with a single charge. It is very handy as it only weighs about 6 ounces. It is expected to be released in May for $199 though no official announcement about its availability has been made.

iRiver’s Wave-Home, a new device to look forward to

Wave-Home from iRiver is a very interesting desktop add-on that can be expected in the middle of 2009. It was presented at CES and seemed to be one of the most surprising products at the event. The other gadgets and gizmos have been leaked beforehand unlike Wave-Home which really made an impression on the CES spectators.
The device is a home networking tool that connects to the Internet. It is an all-in-one device that provides web, advanced multimedia and phone capabilities. Wave-Home has a base station with a 7-inch color LCD touch screen. Since Wave-Home is linked to the internet, all sorts of digital content can be easily accessed from here. These include music, movies, hand drawings and photos. The base station also comes with a 1.3 megapixel CMOS camera which can be used for video conferencing as well as taking still pictures. The base station is accompanied with a handset enabled for VoIP calls which is designed to appeal to any modern minimalist. But if the user opted to, the touch screen can be used as a virtual keypad too. Users can also count on it for text messaging, phonebook sync and eve flash games.
iRiver also boasts Wave-Home’s intelligent widget that is already common in most types of television sets. It gives easy access to weather, stock and traffic updates. Like most computer accompaniments, Wave-Home is equipped with SD, Ethernet and the usual USB ports.
Early reviews given about it say that the best part of Wave-Home is its quality speakers. When streaming music from the internet radio or playing music directly from the iPod, the quality of sound is outstanding.


iRiver considers Wave-Home as a milestone introduction for them which can help them expand their product innovation into areas like life and home networking. This is in line to their goal to help their consumers connect with the things they consider important. iRiver is planning to tandem with a phone company to sell Wave-Home and they are scheduling to sell it first in Korea for about $400.
